We have extensive experience in the cleaning, restoration and conservation of antique gilded picture frames and antique furniture, specially skilled in traditional water gilding and oil gilding.

Having amassed many years of practical experience in work of art using a variety of materials and techniques, such as Boulle and Japanned decoration, Wood carving's, Metal work and French polishing, as well as Polychromed decorative objects and simulated paint effects on wood, leather and fabric.

The conservation treatment carried out ranges from minimal intervention, such as dusting and consolidation, to replacement of lost ornament's and cleansing to reveal original decorative finishes. We also carry out work to improve conditions for painting and fitting new backboards which largely involves removing old deteriorated fixings and re- fitting paintings into the frame.

Analysis and research can be carried out to aid treatment and enable objects to be better technically understood. We also advise on the handling, storage and safe display of objects.
